Signs of Autumn

We have been talking in class about signs of autumn. We talked about urban and rural settings and we identified lots of seasonal fruits and vegetables. We also talked about evergreen and deciduous trees and hibernating and dormant animals. We decided to take our learning outside and we went looking for signs of autumn in the Phoenix Park!

Hello Autumn

This week we learned about the signs of Autumn and the 4 different colours leaves turn in Autumn: yellow, orange, red & brown. We went on a Nature Walk today and collected lots of different coloured leaves for our art work and for our Nature Table.

Working on our ball skills ⚽️

We had fun today in the P.E. hall working on our dribbling and passing skills with footballs.

P.E.

We have been working on ways of travelling in P.E. and trying to use our hands, feet and our whole body to move in different ways. Today, we tried different ways of rolling. Here are some of the highlights!

September in First Class ⭐️

Great printing in Room 7!

The boys in Room 7 did a great job of making prints today (29th September). We used Lego blocks and paint. Well done boys!

Amazing Artists

Our inspiration this week was the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Artist Of The Week

Well done to our Artists of the Week in September!

Tom used oil pastels to recreate Kandinky’s Concentric Circles.

Hugo created a fabulous self portrait of himself!

Mícheál painted pop art hands, inspired by Andy Warhol’s PopArt style of print.

Morning Activities

September has been super busy. We are having so much fun in our new class. I think it’s fair to say we have really settled into Prefab 8  🙂

GAA Blitz

We were so lucky to be invited to play in a GAA blitz in St Oliver Plunkett’s along with Senior Infants and First Class from our school and the girls’ school. We had a super day! Thank you to Mark and Fergal for helping us to put all of our GAA skills into practice.
