Autumn Trees

We painted autumn trees. We used corks to print leaves in red, orange, yellow, brown and green. Our finished pieces turned out beautifully and are all so unique.

Picasso Inspired Art

Huge effort went into our Picasso inspired Frankenstein pictures. We used the style of cubism often used by Picasso to create our beautiful creations.

Hurling

We practised our hurling skills with coach Fearghal.

Autumn Walk

We have been learning about autumn. We discussed signs of autumn such as the weather getting colder, the days getting shorter and some leaves changing colours and falling from trees. We learned the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees. We named some vegetables, fruits and nuts that we see in autumn such as pumpkins, blackberries, horse chestnuts and acorns. We also learned about some animals that are busy preparing to hibernate and discussed the difference between animals that hibernate in winter and animals that become dormant in winter. We took our learning outdoors and went on a walk to the Phoenix Park to look for signs of autumn.

Maths

We are working hard on our number stories in Maths.

Autumn Walk

As our topic of the month is autumn, we decided to take an autumn walk to the Phoenix Park. We kept an eye out for all the signs of autumn all around us. We noticed the different coloured leaves on the ground , fallen conkers , deciduous trees with bare branches and evergreen trees still full of leaves.

Autumn Trees

We printed autumn trees using corks and lots of autumnal colours. Then we wrote about all the signs of autumn around us.

Little Builders

We have been learning in Maths about measures and have been practicing our new language: small, big, bigger, tall, short, shorter, long, longer, shortest. We have been using lego blocks and counting how many it would take to be as tall as the table, our friends, taller than teacher, etc.

PE

We had great fun making shapes with our bodies and mirroring our partners moves.
