Autumn Trees

We painted autumn trees. We used corks to print leaves in red, orange, yellow, brown and green. Our finished pieces turned out beautifully and are all so unique.

Hurling

We practised our hurling skills with coach Fearghal.

Autumn Walk

We have been learning about autumn. We discussed signs of autumn such as the weather getting colder, the days getting shorter and some leaves changing colours and falling from trees. We learned the difference between deciduous and evergreen trees. We named some vegetables, fruits and nuts that we see in autumn such as pumpkins, blackberries, horse chestnuts and acorns. We also learned about some animals that are busy preparing to hibernate and discussed the difference between animals that hibernate in winter and animals that become dormant in winter. We took our learning outdoors and went on a walk to the Phoenix Park to look for signs of autumn.

Maths

We are working hard on our number stories in Maths.

Music

We enjoyed our first music lesson with Bergie. We practised our listening skills by responding to a piece of music through movement. We walked, marched, jumped and tip-toed to the music! We also listened and responded to the poem Spring by Vivaldi and accompanied the poem with percussion instruments.

GAA

We had our first GAA training session of the year with coach Fearghal. We practised passing and receiving, kicking and soloing the ball with our friends. It was great fun!

PE

We really enjoyed our first PE lesson this year. We practised our throwing and catching skills using beanbags.

Kandinsky

We learned about the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky. He used colours and shapes in his paintings. One of his most famous paintings is called Squares with Concentric Circles. This painting inspired our art lesson. We created these beautiful trees with concentric circles.

Self portraits

We drew fantastic self portraits. We used oil pastels to colour them.
