Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Seachtain an Gaeilge

This week, it was Seachtain an Gaeilge. To celebrate, we held a Ceolchoirm in the hall for students and teachers. Each class performed a song. We even had some special performances from some teachers! The boys should be so proud of themselves for standing up on the stage and singing their song as Gaeilge! Bualadh bos for Prefab 12!

Dancing the Irish Dance – Céilí

In preparation for St Patrick’s Day, and in celebration of Seachtain an Gaeilge, Ms Sawyer held a céilí in the school hall! Céilí dances are a traditional form of Irish folk dancing.

Library Visit – World Book Day

Our library visit was postponed last week because of the poor weather conditions. Luckily, we were able to join Ms Carr’s class and go to the library this week! The librarian read The Gruffalo to us, which is one of our favourite stories! We browsed through the huge selection of books, coloured a picture for the library’s colouring competition, and even got to check out some books to bring back to school! Experiences like these show your children what the “real” world is like, and allows them to practice functional life skills.

World Book Day

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 2nd March! We went to the book swap and got to bring some books home. We read The Gruffalo and made Gruffalo masks – I think we gave some people a fright! Each boy also got a book token. The book token can be redeemed in most book shops (like Easons) to get either a free book from a selection, or €1.50 off any book of your son’s choosing.

We had an amazing demonstration in the hall today for Pancake Tuesday! Marie and Ms Sawyer were our talented head chefs!
