Day 2 – GAA

Our second day of ASW 2023 was fantastic! The boys had a great time trying out some new GAA drills and as always, their enthusiasm and enjoyment was evident. Thank you to Mark, our coach, for a very enjoyable morning of football.

Friday STEM

Our Friday challenge was to design and build a vehicle that would float. We had great fun testing our vehicles. The boys really impressed us with their engineering skills and their ability to problem solve. They discovered that weight distribution and surface area could have an impact on whether their vehicles survived our testing! We definitely have some future scientists in Room 1.

Kicking Off Active School Week!

We had the most fantastic start to Active School Week. It is clear from the boys’ faces how much they enjoyed their Taekwon-Do session today. Well done to all and a huge thank you to Master Howard for such a fun and active afternoon.

Snakes

We continued with the theme of jungle animals in all subjects this week. We focused on the snake and made wonderful pictures with facts about the snake attached.

Tigers

We are learning all about jungle animals. We completed beautiful artwork and writing about tigers today.

Our Sponsored Walk

Thank you for your generosity for our annual sponsored walk. We had great fun on our walk and had a lovely treat after.

Minibeasts

For the last two weeks we have been studying  minibeasts. It was extremely interesting. We learned about their habitat, diet, characteristics and function. We assembled our projects and they look fantastic. Look under the ladybirds spots to read all our information and some fun facts.

GAA in the sunshine!

We were delighted to welcome our GAA coach Mark back this week. The boys had a fantastic time training outside while the sun shone.

Fighting Words

The boys in Room 1 had a fantastic visit to Fighting Words today. They had great fun taking the bus and their teachers were incredibly proud of how they represented our school while they were out and about. After a short walk, they arrived at Fighting Words and worked together to create the beginning of an original story. Then, they worked individually to write amazing endings for the tale. The boys got to bring home a copy of their book and each book has extra pages to allow them to finish the story themselves. The work they created can be viewed at:

Friday Lego Challenge

Every Friday we work in groups to complete a Lego challenge. This week the challenge was to build something you find in the kitchen. The results were fantastic and very imaginative. Each group worked as a team and the boys were extremely proud of their creations.
